Valencia, Spain
Monday Morning; -
We have settled in well on the ship and by eating all our meals in the main restaurant on board we are meeting fellow passengers. For the evening meal we share the table with Glen and Donna who are from North Carolina, Tina and Allen who come from Memphis and Erles and ? (Cannot remember her name) who come from Brazil. I guess because we booked this trip through a Canadian travel agent the ship’s crew might have thought that we were Canadians. For breakfast and lunch we get seated at random with other couples making for interesting conversations. Last night (Sunday evening) it was the first of our gala nights so we asked our waiter to make a photo of us all and after dinner we all piled into the theatre for the evening cabaret. I have to say that the shows on the Armonia were fine but the dancers and singers on this ship are fantastic---the amount of energy that they put in is astounding. This morning the dining room was almost deserted so I asked the Maitre’ D what was going on and SHE told me that most people were sleeping in as there are a lot leaving the ship when we berth in Valencia—I assume that would be most of the ‘Bold and Beautiful’ passengers—the ones that like to party on their way back to their cabins at 4am in the morning.
Tuesday afternoon: -
The air circulation system in our cabin won the war it is having with my sinuses yesterday and I spent most of the day sleeping on a deck chair on the back of the ship. We were offered an upgrade to a balcony cabin at the price of Euro 611= Au$ 845 and for five nights/four days we find that ridiculously expensive, it is just as well that we had already decided that this would be our last cruise. It is fun initially but we can have just as much fun back in Banora Point.
Dinner last night was followed by a ‘Tropical Party’ on the pool deck with the boys and girls from the ‘entertainment committee’ doing their best to get everybody up on the dance floor but unless you have done an International Cruise like this one and you have not heard “one two three---cha, cha, cha in 4 different languages followed by “applause, applause, applause” going on everyday somewhere on the boat you will not understand why a lot of us went to our beds.
