Day 72

Mark Twain’s birthplace today: a little house in Florida, MO. It was a small town which has since died and part of which is underwater of the Mark Twain Lake. His birthplace was saved from destruction in 1915 and given to the state in 1995. It was placed under Visitors Center’s roof and the center built around it. So the house is inside for preservation. The center had a small collection of furniture from Twain’s Connecticut home and some artifacts. The best part of was a very good 30-minute film about Samuel Clemens’ life and family. Well done.
