A Scottish garden bursting with colour in Grantown-on-Spey

Summer in Scotland, well I suppose technically it was summer, after all it was late August! The thing to remember about Scotland is you don't actually go there for the weather, you go for the beautiful scenery and that never disappoints. The heather was starting to bloom and every hill side was covered in a blaze of purple. We stayed at Braemar in the Highlands, next to Balmoral and on the Sunday we saw the Queen and most of the other Royal family members as they came out of Sunday service at Crathie Kirk. No pictures though as the big burly men told us not to. Camilla actually looks much nicer in the flesh. How does one top seeing the Royal Family by visiting a whisky distillery for a wee dram or two of course!

While the weather during this trip to Scotland was cold and wet we have actually been there while it has been very warm and sunny, believe it or not.
