My oldest sister is now retired from the Federal Government. She began her career in 1971 with the United States General Accounting Office in Washington, DC. Then her family got transferred to Seattle, Washington where she worked for a short time then had her first child Andrew. Not sure how old Andrew was when they got transferred back to Maryland, I would guess around a year, her family bought a home in Waldorf where she currently lives.
After the birth of Andrew Donna took a leave of absense for about 7 years from the Government. In 1980 she had her daughter Bethany. In 1986 after her son and daughter were both in school Donna returned to the Federal Government working part-time with the US Census Bureau in Suitland, MD. After the kids were older she went back to full-time and that is where she retired from.
She got a degree in Geography and became a "Geographer" for the US Census Bureau. Now she will no longer have to count people every day. She can now relax and enjoy the beauties of each day.
Her daughter Bethany decided to give her mom a retirement party this weekend so Andrew could attend. Andrew is working in Missouri and will be in his "childhood" friends wedding the weekend of Sept. 24. So he took some leave and came to stay with his mom for a week and killed to birds with one stone.
We all had a fantastic time. A childhood friend of Donna's showed up with her daughter. Dana has been Donna's friends since first grade and Dana daughter is Lisa. Lisa now has two children who also came to the party.
Anyway Donna hope you have a wonderful and long retirement.
