Today was both a travel day and a sightseeing day. We departed Frankfort, KY enroute to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH with a short stop at a winery in Owenton, KY. We drove to Owenton and found the Elk Creek Vineyards along with the Elk Creek Hunt Club. Of course, the hunt club was before the winery, so we turned in, then had to unhook the car in order to get the coach turned around to go further up the road to the winery. Had a very nice tour of the winery and had lunch and a wine tasting there. The tasting allowed us to sample 5 different wines. Eddi selected the sweet wines, staying primarily with white wines. I, on the other hand, tried the dry wines, staying mostly with the reds. Their wines were quite pleasant and we purchased a couple to take along on our trip. We then departed Owenton to continue into Ohio, passing through Cinncinnati and into Dayton to stay at the AFB FamCamp (Family Campground). We decided to stay till Monday, so we could see the AF Museum and catch up on some laundry.
