Sunday, 9-11-11 After breakfast, I walked the dog, she got to say goodbye to her Cardigan Corgi cousin "Sarge". Nice people in transit from Idaho to Paso Robles. Left Bishop at 9:00am headed north for Reno. There were a series of pretty serious grades along the way. The first between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. It was 10 miles at about a 6% grade. I'm a turtle....not a Rabbit! I saw an old 35 foot Winnebago way back in my rear view mirror. He was a gas rig towing a Jeep. He "blew past me on the hill like I was parked. I saw the answer on the side of his rig when he passed. He had a Banks Power pack on the rig. Gonna get one after the trip. 6% grades are 3,300 RPMS @ about 42 MPH. Nice for site seeing but not good for making forward progress. There had been a recent fire in the mountains near June Lake, lots of dead pine trees. It's a shame, it is a pretty area. When we got to Carson City Nevada we stopped for gas at Costco and bought a hot dog for lunch. The gas was $3.59 / GAL. About 35 miles back in California it was $4.79 / gal. Good thing I have a big tank. After we left Carson City the weather turned! THERE WAS THUNDER AND LIGHTENING, THE WIND WAS GETTING SO FRIGHTENING......I HAD TO KNOCK ON WOOD......! OK I'm dating my self! When it got bad I let my back up driver take over (picture attached). Made it to our RV park at 4:00 and had fun backing the beast into the space. Very cramped, but made it on the third try. We have a site to see in town tomorrow if I can parking and then it is off to Lassen Volcanic park. That's it for today :)
