Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon

Although today was again cloudy, there was very little rain or mist. We accomplished our sightseeing here in Frankfort. We started out by visiting Rebecca Ruth Candies, home of the Bourbon Ball. They only sell in KY, but ship to anywhere. The candies are made with pecans from Whaley's in Troy, AL. We then went by the State Capitol, then on to the KY Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A truly spectacular memorial, I would say coming in a close second to the Wall in DC. It is an actual sundial that the names of KY fallen are positioned so that the shadow of the gnomon falls on the name and month/year that he was killed. The MIA's are behind the gnomon so no shadow will fall on them. Words cannot express the design and significance of this memorial. Pictures of the explanation of the memorial are difficult to read. Dark spots on the GA granite is mostly moisture left from the recent rains. As we approached the memorial, we noticed several deer that were grazing along the side of the road. As we left, we also noticed a gaggle of geese near the grounds. Our last stop was at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. We even got to taste two of the bourbons that are distilled there. It was a very enjoyable tour. Learned quite a bit about bourbon that I didn't know before. Tomorrow, we hope to stop at one of the local wineries on our way to Dayton, OH.
