Today after "school" Tom took the girls on a "field trip" up to the Luberon, a mountainous region about an hour and half north of Aix-en-Provence. (Well, 2-2.5 hours if you count the unintended detours!) Our intended destination was Roussillon, a small village northwest of Apt, but after more than two hours of driving and getting lost, we saw a sign for Bonnieux and we "settled" for that. It turned out to be a spectacular visit to a perfect hilltop village nestled in the Luberon mountain range. We had lunch, strolled the narrow streets and side passages, explored the ancient church on the hilltop, and then finished with (of course) a little ice cream. :) All in all, a wonderful late summer day in Provence!
