Travelin' to Topeka
Sep 7, 2011
|Knowing it would take only a few minutes to get everything ready to go this morning, we decided to walk over to the restaurant and begin our day with a good, hot breakfast.
We took our time and enjoyed several cups of coffee with our meal.
Back at the RV we spent about 15 minutes working to make sure all was well with the RV and truck.
Following our walk-around inspection we hopped into the truck and headed out to I-70 at 8:00 AM.
Nearly five hours later we pulled in to Deer Creek Valley RV Park in Topeka, KS.
It took less than 15 minutes to get parked, level and hook up the water, electric and cable TV. Man I sure do like that easy level up system on our new RV!
Marilyn fixed a quick, easy lunch, and we spent some time on the internet. Both of us managed to close our eyes for a few minutes of relaxation.
We cleaned up a bit and left around 4:00 to go fuel the truck.
We then drove to the Texas Roadhouse to meet friends, John & Lori.
We parked and walked all around the restaurant to locate the front door. As we reached the door we saw John’s smiling face as he walked across the parking lot toward us.
We had greeted John by exchanging hugs and chatting for a couple of minutes and then we saw Lori headed our way. Once again we exchanged hugs and then we all went inside where we were seated right away.
The conversation was non-stop and we lingered long after our meal was finished.
We always enjoy our time with these two fine friends and hated to say “so long” to them. However we do hope to see them in the RGV sometime during the winter.
Back at the RV it was time to watch some TV and relax with the debate.
It has been a good day and tomorrow we will be in Hannibal and get to see our kids and grandkids.
