|We arrived in Riga and found our way to our hostel right in the middle of Old Town. Once again we managed to find the worst hostel in the city - I don't think our bathroom had ever been cleaned, but we stayed because of the location and price. We spent the afternoon at the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia (scary!) then we attempted to find a laundrette (unsuccessful again) and grabbed some breakfast supplies before heading out for another great, cheap Baltic meal.
The next day we went on a walking tour and were amazingly two of only three Australians on the tour! After the tour we went back to the hostel to book bus and plane tickets and were told we needed to change rooms (who knows why - there was hardly anyone else there!), luckily our new room was slightly cleaner. We spent the afternoon repacking our stuff, changing rooms and working out where to go next and how to get there. That night we went out to another nice restaurant.
Our final full day in Riga we decided to explore the Old Town. We started by going up to the top of St Peters bell tower to get a good view of the whole town. Next we tried to go to the Dome Church however it was under renovation. During our walk we found another part of the Old Town we had never seen before, streets lined with portraits of famous Latvians, the only remaining part of the Old Town wall and a powder tower. Super cool.
August 4th we said good bye to our mould fest of a room and got the bus to Vilnius.
