We took the day off to celebrate Labor Day. After awhile, Bob got antsy and went to the park for a walk. He headed back to the part of the park that has the Elwha River and the dam that will eventually be removed. It'll be a 3 year project. Bob headed up the Whiskey Bend road which would normally been open for cars but was closed due to two washouts. The road made a nice walkway, but it was very steep in most areas. Bob made it about a mile before he turned around. The walk was through a thick forest on a hillside with tall trees and occasional small waterfalls. The dam and reservoir were about 3/4 mile up the road, but neither offered a decent view. After a healthy walk, Bob returned to the RV. Later on we had steaks on the grill and watched part of the Maryland victory over Miami. Go Terps! We wonder who came up with the design for the Maryland helmets....
Tomorrow we start heading home. It took us 5,360 RV miles to get here. If the RV could fly, we'd make it home in 2500 miles. Instead, we'll meander down the coast until the coastal road gets too scary and then we'll turn inland; probably at Eureka, California.
This evening we saw a special about Understanding Bigfoot and it turns out, we're in the middle of Bigfoot country. And the area we left in BC, Squamish, is the capital of Bigfoot sightings in Canada. Would explain why they have Bigfoot carvings for sale in the store at the camp office here!!
