Some of you have been waiting for me to start this trip journal, knowing that we were starting a trip. I apologize for being almost a week late. We delayed our trip by one day because Eddi had a dental problem that had to be taken care of. Eddi and I left home on Tue, 30 Aug, stopping for the night at the Lake Hartwell KOA in Anderson, SC. We then headed to Stuart, VA to visit a friend for a couple of days. Other than going to Wal-Mart, we did not do very much except visit.

Our original plan was to head from there to proceed to Cape Cod and then Maine to look at some lighthouses and visit relatives before crossing New Hampshire and Vermont to head to my HS Reunion in Oneonta, NY. However, a girl named Irene seems to have changed our plans somewhat. Because of the damage and flooding in New England, we decided to head from Stuart west to Kentucky, then up to Wright-Patterson AFB and then turn east to visit the Ohio Amish counryside. We will then head up towards Buffalo and upper NY State along Lake Ontario to view some of the lighthouses in NY before heading to the reunion.

Today, we left Stuart, VA headed for Hazard, KY. While enroute, we called the campground we wanted to stay at and they informed us that they were full. Change of plans 2. We are bedded down at the Jessie Lea RV Park in Big Stone Gap, VA. We will be here for 2 or 3 days. The pictures today are of Lover's Leap Overlook on US 58 on the western side of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
