(Ron Writing) Our original plan was to drive the Yellowhead HW all the way east to where it ends near Winnipeg, Manitoba but we want a different picture. Driving through the rolling farmland is nice but after awhile it’s like watching reruns!
This morning we decided to head southeast on Highway 11 from Saskatoon to Regina (Ra-gee-na). This highway also runs through mostly farmland but at least there are a few small towns along the way to add some variety to the scenery. There were hardly any rest stops along the highway but several small towns along the way had developed their own. Most were 0.5 to 5 Km off the highway.
We stopped in Davidson because we could see they had an interesting rest stop and we needed a break. We also stopped in one other town right on the highway for a lunch break.
We got to Regina around mid-afternoon and went to the Southland Mall where there is a Chapters store. Chapters is a Canadian version of Barnes & Noble. It has a Starbucks with WiFi so we were able to get our email and post the entries for the past couple days. There used to be a WalMart in this mall but it moved to a different location. The mall still allows RVers to park in the lot overnight and there’s plenty of room in front of the former WalMart, which is now vacant.
