Arrived at the airport at about 6.30am to find that Uncle Ray was early!! As if moving abroad to start a new job and to live wasn’t enough of a shock to the system!!! We checked in without any problem and went to have breakfast. Mum, Ray, Matt, Jo and Clemmy had all come to see us off. Jo drove us to the airport again which was lovely. After breakfast, we said our goodbyes and went through to departures. Boarded and took off and were told that we would be arriving 35 minutes early which was a nice surprise. Journey was fine – plane a bit old and worn but comfy and the food was awesome…proper metal cutlery as well!! The stewards seemed to continually be bringing things round: drinks, snacks, meals, water. We couldn’t eat everything (a miracle for me I know!!) so we saved some snacks, rolls etc to have when we arrived at the apartment/flat.

Arrived at Dubai Airport and I went to pick up my employment visa and then had to have my eye scanned! Then queued for immigration and got sent to empty desks…great? NO! Stamped both our passports with one month!! What was the point of having the employment visa- we will both have to go to the Oman border and be restamped in 30 days!! Mark and Chris from Rakess were there to meet us and then we waited for about an hour and eventually got on the bus.

After about an hours drive we reached Ras al Khaimah (RAK) and dropped people off at their flats. Got to our flat, walked in and…WOW! It is huge! Had a look round and great but no balcony,,,never mind – it is free! Spent the next 2 hours unpacking our cases, had a whisky and coke and then went to bed.
