Kayaks

On the morning of Aug. 23, we drove to Acadia National Park and checked out the Hull Cove Visitors Center. We then checked into our motel near the Park (the Bar Harbor Motel) and then spent the afternoon exploring Acadia. We took a bus around the Park Loop Road, stopping at Sandy Beach and Jordan Pond.

That evening we took the free Island Explorer bus into Bar Harbor for a wonderful seafood dinner. The next day we visited the Abbe Museum (Native Americans in the vacinity of Bar Harbor) and then took a National Park Kayak Tour on the Western Side of Mount Desert Island. The sea was a bit rough (and consequently saw seals only from a long distance) but it was a lovely trip and we were pleased that we all managed the 7 mile trip without problems. In the evening we had another great meal at a local Italian restaurant.
