|We got to Amsterdam late afternoon and checked into our fab but wildly expensive hotel. We weren't really sure what to do with ourselves as we had not been able to get reasonable accommodation in a hostel so we didn't have anyone to guide us around. We went out for steak (Amsterdam has more Argentinian steak houses than Buenos Aires) then went for a wander to do some people watching. We spent about an hour watching street performers before heading home early as I was getting sick.
The 23rd I was not feeling well but I pushed through and we did a walking tour of the city and booked a day tour to North and South Holland. After our walking tour I went back to the hotel and tried to sleep off my chest infection.
The 24th we trekked out to the suburbs to Couchsurf with a couple we hosted last year. When we got there they cooked us lunch before we got the tram back into the city and went to the Heinekin Experience. Alex (our host) came in and met us for dinner and took us for a walk around the city.
The 25th we went on our North and South Holland tour. We started the day by visiting the windmills and a cheese factory before heading to Marken where we saw how clogs are made. In the afternoon we went to the Hague where we had a drive through tour, Delft where we saw how the Delft blue ceramics are made and visited the miniature town.
The 26th we decided to have a lie in before heading to the Van Gogh museum which was absolutely crawling with tourists. After battling with the crowd for a few hours we decided to head into Dam square for some lunch and more people watching. That afternoon we wandered through Vondeelpark before heading home to get ready for our early flight to Estonia the next day.
The 27th we had to leave around 630am to get to the airport.
