Aug 26 th....

Hi no wifi for a few days so at Mackers again.

We left York with iconic on hand and headed North to Scotland,we knew it was going to be a fair hike...

we stopped a Corbridge at a lovely village deli and had picnic and hot chocolates, beautiful village,we bought strawberry jam and lemon curd homemade yumo...

Jus outside Corbridge we ha planned to stop at Corbridge roman fort site...wow 71 ad village for the Romans who were building Hadians wall,a supply town....it was fascinating,we had umbrellas and audio players walking around, still the drains, pools and house remains still evident...we lef there and headed to the border where we took photos of the border stone Uk/Scotland...chilly and getting darker skies but the mountains full of heather purple! Beautiful but bleak in the drizzly weather.

we stopped at Jedburgh abbey 1100 and also saw Mary Queen of Scots house, was smaller than we thought I would be,lovely village though.

We headed north and had to sto at a small church on it's own in the Pennines where the headstones covered in moss and backdrop of a house with chimney smoking, just like the picture books! Fantastic ...my camera is getting a workout!

We made it to Edinburgh no probs ,took he ring road to Linlithgow and found across a gorgeous bridge of stone our lodges.Nancy came out to greet us,it was 6pm...a full day but lots of breaks...cabin heating on(summer?) cozy,snug,collapse!...great day..

Aug 27th...

Davids day to find his Bannockburn battlefield!...we headed to Stirling first and saw the William Wallace. Monument...wow 246 steps to the top....getting a real workout this holiday! What an amazing view....of Scotland,Edinburgh castle and Stirling valley....exhibit of Wallace sword and life. Great...

Off to find Bannockburn battlefield...the Bannockburn battle centre was great, trying on all armor, video of battle..30,000 battled 10,000 died...

We got a plan of the battlefield and went exploring and David and Ethan got to have their sword fight on the ground where they fought....now it looks like lovely green fields, but was covered in blood and bodies in 1600's

David said he should have bought his metal detector with us!

On the way back we stopped at the Falkirk wheel,Huge wheel lifts boats onto a loch...then the sky went black!

We were racing back to the car laughing our heads off,it looked like the end of the world was coming! Then it opened up! We made it!

We found a cute inn 1656ad in Linlithgow t have tea,and a game of darts and Ethan watched soccer...Liverpool and Bolton...yummy food..

After filling our tummies we walked along the Linlithgow canal and then down to the loch next to the Linlithgow palace and what do you know a rainbow decided to pop out of the palace at the same time a white swan swam front of it....CAMERA!! lovely thank you!

Back to the lodge, had a soak in the bath tub....another top day...

Aug 28th...

Today had a snooze in,all snugged in bed together then breaky and in car to explore Edinburgh, the weather is dark today and drizzly..makes all the buildings look drab, but they are so old but what history...

We rugged up,scarves hats etc and headed for the castle....wow no one surely could have got into that castle,it was so high up on the rocks in the middle of town.....we parked and walked along the old part of town, always looking up at the buildings, the windows and the streets. The shops were buzzing, even though it was cold and rainy,it was the Fringe festival on...what a bunch of fruit loops, crazy Scottish Quercia...all having great fun...they love it,all dressed up crazy,singing,acting,busking....all in the rain...we bought a couple of one pound umbrellas to enjoy the day,we walked miles again, had lunch on the run, giant baked spuds! Huge...walked around the Kings mile under the castle, loads of dark alleys, pubs, shops, cobbled streets.....amazing...spent all day exploring, great day...also got a call from Dunans castle asking if Lord David Jeffries would like to visit his plot of land tomorrow....we had to think about it for a moment...why not! We said... So tomorrow with kilt in hand we head for Dunans Castle in Argyll to see Davids land....all 12 inches of it!! I had bought this for him so he could become a Laird of Scotland....Can't wait .....his skinny little legs protruding from a kilt! Camera!!

Going to go now till next time wifi stop,we are leavin Scotland n 2 days to head south to Lakes district....hoping it is warmer!!
