Because I changed my mind and decided to change my route, today finds me on my way to Lake Gaston --an Outdoor World RV park. I also decided to avoid the interstates today and take the back route, wandering through some lovely country. All rolling hills, trees, little creeks, small towns nestled in the valleys, in short, really a great drive.
Most of the roads I used were pretty good for country roads, only the last 30 miles or so were on really narrow ones. I hate it when there is absolutely NO shoulder, just pavement and a drop off at the edge! Not even graded well, just a sign once in a while warning of low shoulder...
What a lovely campground though. It is on the side of a hill--of course, nestled in lots of trees and right on the bank of a lovely lake. I can see the lake from my rig and took a walk down to the bank where people were swimming, playing, boating etc.
I really enjoyed my time here. One of the first things I did after setting up was to go to the cafe--on the water--and have a great lunch! Now I know where all the people have been--they were here! A lot of the people are younger and have families, and I expect jobs so they only have the weekends, but they play hard.
There was a nice pool, lounge chairs along the lake, a marina(lots of people had brought their own boats). This was the most "campy" place I have been to. Way out in the middle of nowhere, but it made a great vacation destination for most these folks.
I think I found redneck heaven...
