We went exploring today and visited a ton of little towns and ended up at Topaz Lake in Nevada and California. Topaz Lake is a reservoir located on the California-Nevada border, about 75 miles south of Reno.
We were surprised when we crossed into the California side, they made us stop for an inspection. They asked a couple of questions and then moved us on. We had planned to stay a week or so at Topaz Lake, but they were totally booked for months.
It is a beautiful lake with great fishing. Jerry is planning to buy a Nevada fishing license and this lake allows fishing on both the Nevada and California side with one license. It is a beautiful area but our timing was not right for this trip, maybe later.
The tiny town of Coleville, California has a few stores and a very tiny post office. It was a fun and interesting trip. We were surprised to see some snow-capped mountains in the distance. I will let the photos tell the rest of the story. More later from Nevada.
