Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is a most beautiful place just about 50 miles from Chicago. It was founded by a group of industrialists and bankers from Chicago in the early 1900's. The lake is crystal clear and many of the homeowners on the lake front have their mail and daily paper delivered by the "mailboat". The mailboat hires young college students to deliver the mail. They jump off the boat onto the homeowner's dock, put the mail & paper in the mailbox, and then race back to jump back on the boat while it is still moving.
It was about a 3 hour trip around the entire lake with commentary about the various homes that were, and are still, located there. One of the largest tracks of land is owned by the Wrigley family. Wrigley began by selling soap. He gave a package of gum to his customers to encourage them to buy his soap. He found everyone was buying the soap to get the gum, so he went out of the soap business and the rest of the story is history.
I would recommend this as a must see if you ever travel to this part of the country. A friend of ours recommended it to us, we are so glad he did.
