We started the day out looking for bears. We finally found one black bear. We turned or attention to other opportunities and went on a mission to find Big Rock (a large granite erratic deposited by a glacier) and the Thorsen Creek petroglyphs. The petroglyphs have fallen from a cliff and lay scattered in a beautiful rain forest setting. These petroglyphs visited by Thor Heyerdahl wh0 saw a connection between these carving and the carvings on eastern island. We spent the evening attempting to go to Blue Jay Lake Conservation Area; we were only 5 kilometers from reaching our goal before calling the trip due to darkness. A trip we make in the future with better planning. I also checked out Bella Coola Yacht Charters who offer bareboat (bearboat) charters. One of the destinations mentioned is the Great Bear Rain Forrest. With any luck I may be able to launch a ocean quest for the Spirit Bear in the future.
