Chuck and Mel's Motor Home Trip Summer 2011 travel blog

Chuck and I drove through the Arts and Crafts Trail in Gatlinburg. While visiting with one shop owner, she not only recommended a great quilt store in Cosby, Tennessee but also suggested we try the Wild Plum Tea Room for lunch. We took her advice on both accounts. The lunch was scrumptious. They started us off with walnut thumb muffins with warm plum jelly. Chuck order shrimp and artichoke pie. It was served in a ramekin topped with pastry. IT came with dill and horseradish pea salad and dill zucchini soup. I tried the strata with dried tomatoes, squash and provolone cheese with dill cucumber and tomato salad. We both had the house plum tea. Lunch was so good I had to try the home made dessert of blackberry cobbler topped with cinnamon ice cream. If you are ever in Gatlinburg, you must eat at the Wild Plum Tea Room.

After lunch, we headed down the road to Cosby to find Holloways Country Home Quilts. What a find it was. The store is located in an old log home. I found myself thinking how wonderful it is to see people using these old buildings. There is so much history and charm in them. At home, the structure would be torn down and something new built in its place.
