|On our way out of Gatlinburg, we stopped at one of the many chain saw carvers in the area. A large carving of a bear's head from a tree with roots still attached had caught our attention as we passed the area. We drove an 11 mile, one way loop called Cades Cove. It is in a valley between mountains and ridges. We spotted deer and wild turkey on this outing. The roads and structures in this area date back to the early 1800s. The churches, grave yards and old log structures take you back to a time when life was harder but much simpler.
