It rained a lot overnight and it was pouring from the heavens when we got up. We had been saying how lucky we've been with not having to break camp in the rain...good news is we hadn't disconnected the Jeep so all Joe had to do was pull power, water & sewer and we were on our way.
It continued to rain as we headed east. We took a couple of really quick breaks and stopped for lunch at a rest area which had a time zone marker. Much to our surprise, it indicated we were crossing into Eastern time; we never would have guessed that. I hate changing all the clocks and watches in the house for the sake of a few days so we might just stay on Central time; we're not doing anything that's time sensitive anyway.
We were relieved when we saw some breaks in the clouds and the sun was actually popping out a little by the time we arrived in Thunder Bay. We took the alternate route highway 102 to cut a few miles off the journey but it was the roughest road we have been on since arriving in Canada. Luckily, it was only about 20 miles. There was construction at the junction and it took 3 light changes for us to make the left turn back onto highway 11.
We have booked into the KOA for 5 nights; we decided we'd hang out here over Labor Day and we wouldn't be fighting campground availability in the U.S. for the holiday weekend. This KOA is full as they celebrate Labor Day here in Ontario too. They also have a Halloween display set up, which is absolutely like nothing we've ever seen. The people who do it do a superb job. All the proceeds from the organized activities over the weekend go to fund raising for KOA Care Camps, for children with cancer. The CEO of KOA is expected to be on site over the weekend as well.
We haven't had pizza in a while and we saw an ad for a pizza place just down the road. We hopped in the Jeep, only to find it was a standing room only place...no seating for dining. So, we ordered a pizza, took a walk, picked up our pizza and brought it home. It was really good but if we had known, we could just have had it delivered.
Tomorrow, we plan to go to Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park.
