Overnight low temperature: 62 degrees.
We received 0.19" of light rain overnight.
Today will be a travel day. We will be making a short haul of just 65 miles south to the Rivers Bend RV Campground located on the Menominee River in Iron Mountain, MI. This is the border with the state of Wisconsin.
Because this is such a short haul we will delay our departure until about noon time.
I'll take my time working through my checklist. Nancy is already done with the inside travel preparations and is ready to travel.
We have enjoyed our stay here at the Country Village RV Park, even though it has been warmer here than usual for this time of year. The weather forecast is calling for cooler temperatures over the next week.
More on my choice to visit Iron Mountain later.
Well, I'm glad I started to pick things up early. Everything that was outside was infested with earwigs, what a mess. It took me a long time to clean things up and I suspect that we will be carrying a few earwigs to our next stop.
Finally at noon we said our farewells to our neighbors and headed out. Our route today was to take us south on Hwy 95 to Iron Mountain, MI.
The road conditions were good. Very little traffic and once again I was blessed with a nice tail wind. The FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY POWERSTROKE hardly got warmed up before we arrived in Iron Mountain.
We arrived at the Rivers Bend RV Park & Campground at 12:10 PM CDST; making it look like we covered a distance of 63 miles in just 10 minutes.
Check-in was by the park owner, "Willie". A very friendly reception and he escorted us to our site. The site is actually one of his pull-through sites but because of his concern for his grass and a soft spot he asked if I would be okay with backing into this site. No problem. I nailed it. The hookups are a little old but serviceable and we have Cable TV. The site is paved with a nice concrete patio, picnic table and fire ring.
We have some shade trees and a nice grass lawn. I think we will enjoy our two week stay here.
I first learned of this campground from some folks that we met last summer in Whitehall, NY. I highlighted the location in my travel atlas and here we are. A nice place to relax and enjoy the summer weather.
We already learned from Willie that this was once a summer hangout for Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. We'll look forward to seeing what the area has to offer.
