(Ron Writing) Once again, it was cloudy again all day and it rained during late afternoon. We checked out some of the Gold Rush Days events happening in Valdez. Our first stop was at the new NFS Crooked Creek visitor center. There were ladies demonstrating Dutch oven cooking and generously giving out samples of the beef stew, sourdough bread, and peach cobbler that they cooked/baked in the ovens. It was all very good. We also looked around in the new visitor center, which had its grand opening yesterday. It’s small but they had some nice exhibits. Out back by the creek little kids could pan for “gold” (rocks painted gold) and trade their nuggets in for some small toys.

We also went to the downtown area where there was an outdoor market with various crafts and food items being sold. There was also some live entertainment.

I ordered a new toilet for the trailer this morning. It was supposed to be mailed priority mail today so we should receive it early next week. Having to leave the trailer to use the “outhouse” reminds us of the many years we camped with a VW poptop. We don’t drink much liquid after dinner!

After you look at today’s photos checkout the video on the Poweriser website. I'll bet a guy could outrun a bear with a Poweriser!!
