Monday 8/1/11 One Good Turn Deserves Another!
One of our two carryover campers pulled out this morning enabling me to clean up their site while the temps were still pleasant and the humidity low; however, the other campers seemed in no hurry to pack up get the hell off our loop. It was 1pm and they still were making no movement to leave. Mary Jo called Anita and rescheduled her dog’s photo session for Tuesday at 11am at her house. Since we had nothing to do until the lackadaisical campers decided to leave (they have to be out by 3pm), we decided to go into Hagerstown and buy groceries. It just so happens that Borders Bookstore that is going out of business and is having an inventory dissolution sale is in the same shopping complex as Wal-Mart. Anita suggested we go in purchase some more books since we read the ones we brought with us. The sale was no big deal but Anita bought some “techie” magazines at 40% off and I purchased 3 books at 20% off so I guess we are armed and ready now for the duration. Returning to Greenbrier, we noticed that 5 more vans of juvies from Baltimore had arrived and set up camp for the little bastards. It’s so nice seeing tax payer dollars going to support summer camping trips for the law breakers while the tax payers themselves cannot afford to send their kids to camp and most can barely pay their bills right now. Socialism is great as long as the government doesn’t run out of other peoples’ money; distribute the wealth to freeloaders who are not productive and are only takers. Our inconsiderate campers finally left so I went down to clean up the site and to my surprise it was already clean. John returned the favor and took care of it while we were out. Ain’t teamwork great? I returned our rental movie to the Red Box at Weis and rented another flick for tonight: the “Season of the Witch” with Nicholas Cage. It will either be good or it will be a bummer-that’s how Cage’s films go-he is never consistent. Tomorrow, we have to go to Mary Jo’ for lunch so now our touring has been delayed until Wednesday when we plan on seeing Harper’s Ferry. Harper’s Ferry is a National site where armament was produced and where John Brown tried to lead a rebellion but ended up getting strung up. John Brown was revolutionary abolitionist who was against slavery and who advocated and used force of arms to outlaw slavery. We look forward to learning more about this period in our history.
