What would a trip to Victoria be without a stop to see our good friends Ann Michele and Steve Ewert? They now live in Ladner (part of the district of Delta) very near the ferry terminal at Tsawwassen. We timed our departure from Sidney so that the 11:00am ferry would put us onto the mainland in time for lunch with the Ewerts. It was a beautiful morning and we were delighted that the table had been set out on the shaded patio so that we could visit outside in the fresh summer air.
It’s always great to catch up with all the goings and comings of the Ewert family, we have know each other since 1988, long before the children were born, and here we are, with Chelsea having finished her first year of university and Connor completing high school. We were sorry to learn that Chelsea was not available to enjoy lunch with us, she has a summer job in Vancouver but Connor was on hand to surprise us with his latest growth spurt. He’s now taller than his father Steve and rivals our son Raj in the height department.
Our intended two-hour lunch morphed into a four-hour chat, was anyone surprised? At last we pulled the plug because we still had the five hour drive to Penticton ahead of us. It would have been great to have more time to visit and learn about all the latest projects that the Ewerts are undertaking, but a short visit was definitely better than no visit at all.
