Colonial Williamsburg is a mile long street with restored buildings from the 1700's. The first stop is the Visitor's Center where we purchased our tickets. The tickets allow entry to the buildings included in the Colonial Williamsburg restoration. Not all of the buildings in the restored area are open to the public. After we purchased our tickets we boarded the shuttle to the start of our tour at the Capitol. Each building has costumed tour guides and that was the best part of the whole experience - listening to the wealth of information the guides provided. We toured quite a few buildings and also had a history lesson and demonstration of silversmithing and clothes making. Some of the buildings and shops that we wanted to see were closed (printing, tavern, wig maker) but we were worn out by the time we were near the end of the main street. Now I know why they recommend 2 to 3 days to see Colonial Williamsburg and especially if it's as hot as it was today - so much to see and learn!

We really didn't know what to expect when we arrived but we left thinking it was one of the best places we've seen.
