Mancora is a surfing town in the north of Peru. It is built along the Pan American highway and has lots of restaurants, bars and shops. The beach is quite nice and the water is warm enough to go swimming in. The waves are only in one area and are quite small at this time of year, perfect for beginning to surf in.
We spent seven days in Mancora working on our tans and learning to surf. We had some lessons from a local instructor named Roberto at the solidad surf company and hired a board for a couple of days. By the end Monica was by far the best out of the two of us ! However we could both stand up and ride the waves in, but the waves were small and gentle on us !!!
We met up with Helen who we had met in Vilcabamba. We ate most nights with her and an aussie girl called Kerry and had a few drinks now and again.
Sirenas (on the high street) - Good meal deal for 18 soles. Excellent salad, bread, and pasta (ok to good !) and a glass of wine.
Encuentra - Good for breakfast and served a great club sandwhich (which we had every day !)
Papa Mo's Milk bar - Great cocktails ! and location on the beach.
CasaBlanca - cheap for 30 soles for the room. However they only cleaned the room once and never changed the sheets which was a bit mingin !
