|July 20 – Day 28 – Kenora – Rest day
Sure good to give the legs and butte a rest after biking close to 950 k from Regina to Kenora. Seems a little unbelievable that we rode entirely across Manitoba with no rest days. Rest day mean the usual bike cleaning and maintenance, especially important now with over 3000 total k’s, when we include the Victoria mile zero segment. A close watch must kept on the brakes, tires and other components that can start to show wear. The tires on Terri’s and my bike look like we can make Thunder Bay before we need to make a change and the chains will also likely require changing there. Otherwise the bikes are working very well.
Kenora is a very nice little city and the folks here have been wonderful and the facilities about the best so far.
Tomorrow we start the ride to Thunder Bay. This is a 4 day ride of 575 k’s with the longest ride being the last day which is 166 k.
