Wow, the longest ride of the tour today (actually the longest ride I have ever put in in one day) and only one longer day on the schedule and longer only by a k or so. Up at 5, packed up, breakfast at 6 and on the road by 6:30 am. Again a very hot day with the temp on the bike computer reading 43.3 c. That is of course in the sun and does get some road effect from the pavement but you can believe that it feels that warm on the bike when you slow down and the breeze is low. We did face some on the nose breezes that did help cool us but also made the ride a bit slower. We rode hard as I had traded cooking days so I would have the days off in Tottenham, ON so I can get home and visit with Priscilla.

We made the Ontario border around 1:30 after a super ice cream stop at West Hawk Lake. That seemed to perk us up for the next 60 or so k to camp. Great to see the Ontario border sign and put province number 4 behind us. That made the day pretty special. An interesting note is that we are now on day 27 and will spend 25 days touring across Ontario. A big province with lots of great friends to see as we ride the tour!

Hi to Brenda, our physio who had a family cottage at West Hawk. What a beautiful part of this country of ours!

While dinner was easily prepared many were very late arriving, as late a 8:45 pm but we kept their food ready and the beer cold. One rider suffer a mild bit of heat stroke and was fortunate enough to have a friendly local take him in and cool him out so he could finish his ride.
