Tennessee-Nauvoo Trek travel blog

We left Fox Ridge State Park this morning en route to Camp Nauvoo Campground in Nauvoo, Illinois. The trip was largely uneventful except for the weather and the roads. The weather ranged from overcast to heavy rain. The rain was sudden and short, lasting only for a 1/2 mile or so. One time we entered a freeway overpass dry and exited out the other side to a torrential downpour. Then that downpour was over in ten minutes, or so.

And, I can't say that I am impressed with the maintenance of the majority of the Illinois highways. The trip was basically from one saw joint or pot hole to the next. Suzi asked how the coach could hold together with this constant hammering?

We still made pretty good time and got to Camp Nauvoo around 4:30 p.m. We set up camp and then did a little sight-seeing around old Nauvoo. We checked on the pageant but found that it was not on on Monday night...just the dress rehearsal.

We tried to get into the production, "Sunset on the Mississippi" but just barely missed getting the last two seats. So, we looked around a little more and then went back to camp. We found that we could get tickets for everthing tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately, the advertised WIFI throughout the campground does not exist. I am trying to use my smart phone hot spot, but with varying success since there is almost no cell coverage within the campground, either.

We'll talk tomorrow and hopefully, communications will improve.
