Private water on the South Fork of the Pit River

This is "yummy" water, we'll be back.

One day recently we had a unique opportunity to fly fish some private water of the South Fork Pit River. We arrived at our hosts home in the late morning. The 3 mile drive was quick and easy. When we arrived, we were struck by how wonderful the home and property appeared. Our hosts greeted us, showed us around the yard with alittle briefing about the river and instructions about where to go and where not to go. This ½ mile stretch of the South Pit is awesome with both side of the river being very fishable and wadeable. Though we didn’t catch many we sure enjoyed our visit. We’re encouraged to return anytime we wanted to, especially in the early evenings. We will.

We departed the river and drove the 12 miles to Blue Lake for some float tube fishing. Neither of us caught a fish that afternoon at the lake. But as usual the fun and enjoyment was more being together than anything.

Whatever the outcome of a day of fly fishing, beats a day of working... <'(()))><
