Esplanade Lagoon

Esplanade Lagoon

My excitement for the car rental came to a screeching halt when I went to go pick it up bright and early at 8:00. It was pointed out to me that my driver's license had expired on my birthday. As I left extremely disappointed I knew it was nobody's fault but my own for not thinking ahead about things like that. If anything, I was bummed that I did all that preparation and planning for nothing.

We ended up staying in town for the day. We tied up some loose ends that needed to be taken care of before we left the country. We also went to a tour desk at our hostle and made reservations for a day tour to Cape Tribulation for the next day. After that we relaxed by the Esplanade Lagoon which was just built in 2003. We were packed in there like sardines, but it was a beautiful day and so I was enjoying myself. At one point we even had a guy we met on the live aboard swim up and grab my leg unexpectedly, extremely creepy if you ask me! Of course, I also had the ability to draw topless sunbathers my way. What is it with topless bathers and Australia? We also went to the night markets and did some last minute shopping. The whole day I felt as if I was still on the boat with a rocking feeling.
