Miller Family Summer 2011 travel blog

We just arrived in Scottsdale, AZ. The local time is 5:30PM. We checked in to the Chapparelle Inn & Suites and then we went to the Blue Agave to visit our old buddy from back in the days of working for Macaroni Grill. He was the Executive Chef at Milpitas Macaroni Grill, and he moved the Scottsdale, AZ with family and opened his own restaurant, The Blue Agave. It was neat to see him after so many years!

After dinner we went back to the hotel, Austin went for a swim, then we all went to bed. We woke up at 6:30AM, got some breakfast and back on the road again, for the last stretch home. We heard on the news in the last couple of days about "Carmageddon". In Los Angeles the 405 was to be shut down for the week. We debated on which way to go home. We weren't sure if we should completely avoid LA or take the chance. From Scottsdale I got on the internet with my lap top and went to sigalert.com. It's a live traffic map of all LA freeways, so we kept an eye on it and decided that it would be ok to go through LA. It ended up being an easy drive through LA, no traffic. WOO HOO! That saved us about an hour!
