Another late start with breakfast at 11 - its starting to become the norm so far!
Packed our bags and headed off to Landskrona. Jen took us the long way so she could show me where she grew up, old school and hang outs. Stopped off at the supermarket for a few supplies and bumped into her uncle who didnt even know she was in town. He is a bouncer at a club in town so will catch up with him later :) then headed to Jens old mans place where we will be staying for Karnevalen. Karnevalen is a big party in the town over 3 days with rides and concerts with all local performers. People from all neighbouring towns come to be a part of it and Jen has been really looking forward to it and into catching up with old friends that she hasnt seen for years.
For dinner we have been invited to Sofie and Andreas' which is an old friend of Jens from school. They have quite a nice place at the far end of Landskrona which is like the size of a 2 bedroom unit but also has a back yard. Aundeas is really interesting to talk with as he has also done alot of traveling with his job (works for Sony Erricson) including Sydney for 3 weeks. Of all 4 of us sitting at the table I am the only one that hasnt been to Sydney! One thing I found quite interesting with the houses in the town is that they are all heated by a central boiler in the town. At home (AUS)each house is heated with what ever you choose but here there is hot water pumped to each and every house to radiators with a tap on the side to regulate the heat generated. Most probably wouldnt find that interesting but when you sell heaters for work......
Left there about 11 and headed back to Jens dads place, got changed and headed into town for a look around Karnevalen. We manage to catch the end of one performer who jen was keen to see but these are all local performers so they are singing in Swedish. They sell terible beer in here but it is either bad beer or cider. Managed to bump into a couple of Jens friends here and then headed to the club here Jens uncle works. He got us in for free (95 kroner door fee) and there was only like 10 people in there. The place reminded me a bit like the Planet at home with the balcony over looking the dance floor and bar along the side wall. Had a bit of a chat to the waitress and she was telling me the place wouldnt get busy till about 1 but then the place closes at 3! 95 kroner for 2 hours! She was right though all of a sudden the place got full! The girls there are all wearing really nce dresses and skirts and stuff but then they are ALL wearing converse canvas lace up shoes - crazy swedes. Not really much dancing going on but more so crazy jumping left to right with hands in the air. Alot of dance music that ive heard before at home so Im quite liking it. Jen tightened the purse strings and we left about 2ish and went to bed.
It was very very lucky we borrowed an air mattress from Marie and Michael (once again they have been sooo good to us with the car and all) because Jens dad and Karin had also decided to stay there too. We were under the impression that they would be staying at Karins.....could have been very interesting otherwise as it is a one bedroom appartment.....
