Florence-I met up with Lori and Rena at our hotel. I was so hot after getting off the train that i got a gelato ice cream cone immediately. Then went and got a taxi to the hotel. It was siesta time for Lori and Rena, so I joined them before dinner. However, i started getting really sick and my throat was killing me. I am thinking that since I have an allergy to milk, all the gelato I have been eating finally took a toll and I felt so sick. It hurt to swallow and breathe. So after we walked around the town and had dinner at this great restaurant, we stopped by the Pharmacia for some drugs! It really helped cause in the morning my throat didn't hurt, but I still had a cough and no voice. Rena was also not feeling well with a bad cough.
The next day we went and saw the Statue of David, I am not a huge museum person, I go in walk and see the major things and then I am done. Lori is complete opposite! She gets the headphones and walks to every item and listens about the history of that painting or statue. So Rena and I sat by The David and people watched for about an hour. There were these 2 ladies that worked for the museum and their job was to stand there and yell at people for taking pictures of The David. It was hilarious to see how mad they got when people continued to take pictures anyways.
Afterwards, we went shopping and every store in Florence was either a shoe store or a leather store! Florence is well known for their leather. Lori found a pair of boots she bought and I was tempted to buy a pair of boots or a new work bag for my computer. I decided to wait to buy either. We then had lunch and went back for a siesta.
They had to attend a work dinner that night so I just hung out at the hotel for a bit and then went for a walk. It was so hard not to get a gelato since that is what I was doing every evening there! Plus everyone is walking around eating it!
The next four days, Lori and Rena had their work conference during the day, however, Lori woke up on the first and second day very ill with an upset stomach! So she stayed in bed for those 2 days. The first day I hung out with her to keep her company and go to the pharmacy to see if they had any medicine to help her. Also, there was a huge fiasco regarding her project she was presenting on the last day. FedEx was supposed to ship her materials and they decided to hold them at customs somewhere in Italy. She was trying to track this down since it was suppose to be there already. I knew she was not feeling well so I helped her with this as well.
