We opted for activity a little closer to home today so we headed for Kimberley. This is a nice Bavarian-themed town and I’ve read it’s one of Canada’s highest cities at 1,120 meters above sea level. We got there just in time for lunch at Chef Bernard’s Schnitzel House. We both had the schnitzel and it was really good. We also splurged and got some apple strudel to bring home for dessert later.

The Platzl is a pedestrian way, lined with some shops, restaurants, and accommodations. It was pretty quiet today but they’ve just hosted the annual Accordion Championships…we missed it and I love accordion music…rats!!

In the Platzl, there is a large cuckoo clock and ‘Happy Hans’ pops out on the hour and yodels. Actually, he’ll pop out any time if you put a quarter in the slot. Joe humored me and posed for a picture…after I put a quarter in.

We stopped at Cominco Gardens, a nice little oasis not far from the Platzl. They were just planting a lot of the flowers but what was there was so nice and it was relaxing to walk freely amongst the flower beds.

We headed back but made a stop for some B.C. cherries at a fruit and veggie stand. I got some fresh broccoli for dinner too and we’ll have that with some grilled chicken.

Then, we got our exercise at Marysville Falls. There’s a nice 10-minute walking trail to the bottom of the falls on the St. Mary River and it was all uphill on the return.

Joe did some chores when we got back and I cooked dinner. There’s a little rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow so we’ll see what we do depending on the weather.
