A slow start this morning as Linda and Marilyn wouldn't quit talking. Finally got away around 9:30 AM and headed toward Jasper where we have a reservation for tonight. Who knows how busy it will be? The day after that we head down the Icefields Parkway to Calgary. We have to be there early afternoon as Kris and David got tickets for the Calgary Stampeded Rodeo on Sunday evening. You know that once on every trip there will be a glitch. You just hope it won't be too big. Today it happened. The drive to Prince George took until noon as as we were leaving town there was a road block. They were stopping people and letting them know that the Trans Canada Highway east of Prince George was closed because of a wash out and wouldn't be opened for 2-3 days. This is the only way in this area to Jasper so we were stopped dead. Pulled off the highway and consulted maps to see which way we could go. We had to head south towards Kamloops and then at 100 Mile House we could, if we wished, again head north and get to Jasper. The other alternative was to continue to head south to Kamloops and then east over the mountains through Revelstoke and Golden and come out at Lake Louise. Either way we are 11 hours from Calgary and won't make it there tomorrow. The detour added a whole day to our trip from Fort St. James to Calgary. We ended up at Lac La Hache Provincial park just south of Williams Lake. Will mull it over tonight and decide which way to go tomorrow morning.
