Tuesday, July 5th: We went to Soldotna to the doctor’s office so that Marvin could get a Coumadin check. Then we drove out to Sterling to Suzie’s Café for lunch. After lunch we checked at Radio Shack to see if the Blackberry had arrived—since it hadn’t, we drove over to the visitors’ center and walked down to see where the fish walk was located. So far the salmon “reds” are not in on the Kenai River in Soldotna. Since we still had some time to kill, I got my hair cut. I had been trying to decide where to go, but thought the place someone at church recommended was Infinity and instead it was Affinity. If I had had my Blackberry up and running, I would have been able to find it since we drove right by there! We stopped at Fred Meyers for groceries and while there the “smart phone” arrived. So we headed back to Radio Shack and then home.
Wednesday: Went back to Soldotna to the ATT Store, and got the Blackberry situation hopefully resolved. I ordered the phone online and was to have gotten it for $49.99, but they didn’t take the $100.00 discount. In the store it was $49.99 so hopefully they will credit my card with the discount as promised. Learning to operate this new gadget is a bit challenging. Will have to take the laptop somewhere that there is a 3G tower to download the software to tether the PC to the Blackberry! 114 Megabytes would take 12 hours! Cold Stone Creamery is two doors from the ATT Store, so we had to stop in and partake of some ice cream! Yummy! On the way home we stopped and took the picture of the mountain right in front of us it is Mt. Spurr.
Thursday: Beautiful day, Marvin took a picture of Mt. Spurr from the school grounds. Later I took two from the motorhome as it reflected in the school windows.
Friday: Had a delicious halibut dinner, put together the center square of the Floral Bouquet and laid the 41 squares out on the bed, and got a couple of loads of wash done.
Saturday: Marvin left to pick up the mail in Nikiski, but wasn’t gone long enough when he was back to get the camera. Our mama moose and calf were browsing on the school property where we first saw them. Guess they are staying in the woods adjacent to the parking lot. So here are a few pictures he took on the way out to the Nikiski post office and back.
We have been blessed with lots of sunshine and temps during the day of mid-to-upper 60s. Last night didn’t get very cold and the winds were pretty calm.
Curious about the rain situation in Summerfield????
