Dan & Leah's Excellent Adventure travel blog

After another great B&B breakfast, followed by a hours chat with Rick and Lorraine the owners we head to Stonehenge. On Rick's advice we do not pay the ridiculous entry fee, but instead take photos from the fence which are just as good.

Next stop is Salisbury where we visit the enormous Gothic style Salisbury Cathedral and surrounding buildings and gardens. We then walk along the shopping malls/streets, stumbling across a market selling everything....we only buy a drink and lollies!

We hit the road again heading for Brighton, knowing that the place and near by villages are all booked out for the weekend unless you want to pay big, big bucks. After continuous searching and driving around searching we phone Maison Mascara Boutique Hotel in Brighton showing a room avilable but you must stay 2 nights.....we ring, they let us have the room for 1 night. Having been warned of the pricey location we fork out £75 for the room only (no breakfast) and £20 to park the car! Probably not all that bad considering we are less than 1km from the sea. To date this is the most we have paid and the worst guest house.....it's not a hotel! - but it is still ok.

After leaving the car with doggy car parking attendants we head for the beach and shops, followed by a beer in Churchill Square. Here we are sitting in the beer garden, which is in a public square, enjoying our beer, sun and people watching when all of a sudden this guy (not all there) pulls down his pants next to us and pisses. Leah gives him lip, and all he can say is 'sorry'. As we bolt from the table and the mess on the ground the guy walks into the pub....and yes, the pub does have a toilet, but hey, why use it!

We continue our walk along the beach front to the pier. The pier is like sideshow alley with rides, amusements and junk food, oh, and also plenty of weird people - note Brighton is the gay capital.

Walking back to the guesthouse we pass more weird and weirdly dressed people amongst some great eateries - it's Saturday night and everyone is out!

Back at the guesthouse we settle in for the night......the music outside or next door is getting louder and louder - could make for a sleepless night.
