| This was a really short drive for us but a must stop to add to our map. This park was advertised as “bare bones” in our book but location, location, location. It did provide full hook-ups and fields full of rabbits at night. You were not supposed to run your AC and we had a lady next to us who sat outside and chain smoked. We closed our windows and stayed gone a lot occasionally cheating by running our AC. 110629-01-Newport, RI - Meadowlark RV Park 110629-11-Newport, RI - Mansions We toured the famous Newport mansions in a van driven by a former NY actor who knew lots of inside info about the residents. The wealth here is overwhelming to us. The houses are often occupied only a few weeks a year. The owners range from the owner of Campbell Soup to Mark Zuckerman (Facebook founder). 110629-15-Newport, RI – Mansions - The Breakers - Marty and Gary Our tour also included going inside The Breakers owned by the Vanderbilt family. We found it elegant but did not see a single room we would be comfortable lounging around in. We ended the day by eating at the Barking Crab and paying a $17.00 parking charge in the Visitor Center parking deck. |
