Edie and John's Wild West Tour travel blog

SAC WEST/OLD TOWN KOA-WEST SACRAMENTO,CA. 7/7/11

My grandson, Lenny Popps came out to visit with us this morning. We talked about what we are doing and some old times for him and me. He had lunch with us here in the coach. We made arrangements to have dinner tomorrow night with him and Jennifer.

After Lenny left, and some washing machines became available, Edie did the bed linens and a few other things. While she was doing the laundry I got on the computer and laid out a revised trip home. Edie's back and leg problem is not getting any better, so we are going to head for home and get her to the doc. We will depart here on Saturday morning, go to Bakersfield, hang a left for I40 and a 6 or 7 day trip back to Statesboro. It will be a pretty easy drive and the third trip on that route for us in the past 3 or 4 years. So once again we will arrive home with that pesky Nebraska space still open on our map....we did fill two of them though. That's progress.

At 5 o'clock we went out to the East Side and met Bob, my brother-in-law, and took him out to dinner. We went to a restaurant named Brookfield's, where Edie and I had eaten often last year in February when we came out to see my sister, who was ill. It's a nice place and any one over 60 gets a free dish of Tapioca pudding, topped with a dab of whipped cream, with their meal. My sister passed away last May and Bob lives alone now. We stay in touch by phone.

On the way back from there we stopped at a super market and picked up the groceries we will need on the way home.

Tomorrow morning the National Train Show will open at the Convention Center. It's the biggest model train show of the year....all the players in the business will be there with their products on display and/or for sale. It opens at 0900 for the convention registrants only..then at noon the public will be let in for the rest of the day and Saturday. Edie is planning to go, if her back will allow it. If not, I will go, being careful not to do another pratfall anywhere down there. So tomorrow will be a full day, with the train show, dinner out and getting ready to haul on Saturday AM. Should have pics tomorrow.
