Our camp at sunset in the National Park

From 80 Mile Beach we headed south via Port Hedland, which is not much to write home about! We stayed a night at a free roadside camp and had a fire with marshmallows, which the kids of course loved! Then we arrived at Karijini National Park. We stayed in the National Park campground which was a great set up. Sophie was quite intrigued by the composting toilets! It's all unpowered so the generator got a bit of a run.

Karijini is one of the most spectacular things we have seen. The gorges are just amazing - red iron ore rock dropping away 100 metres to swimming holes surrounded by ferns & fig trees growing on the side of the rock. There are warnings everywhere about the dangerous loose rocks and narrow walking paths - it was quite a challenge to keep Angus from launching off the edge - a few tantrums ensued, but at least he made it

out in one piece! There were walks down into most of the gorges but unfortunately they weren't really child friendly, so apart from Dales Gorge we stuck to the lookouts.

Part of the park has the roughest dirt/rock roads and the ute is now covered in red dust, as well as most of our clothes and everything else in the caravan!

We met another lovely family down at the swimming hole in Dales Gorge, Kerry, Wendy, Matthew & Ella were on the last few nights of their big trip before relocating to Margaret River. We had a few drinks at their van that night while the kids watched a movie. We will hopefully catch up again when we head down that way.

We are now in Tom Price for a few nights catching up on the washing before we head back to the coast towards Ningaloo Reef and Coral Bay.

PS It is 25 degrees and beautiful blue skies here today, wish you were here!!!!
