Eric & Amber's 35 Day European Honeymoon travel blog

15 hours of traveling...13 hours on a train...15 hours of frustration and bad luck. that could sum up this blog. We started off our day out of cesky krumlov early so that we could catch the train to get to Rothenburg, Germany. We ate breakfast quickly, if at all, so that we could make the train at 830 but breakfast started at 8am and it was a 40 minute walk. we decided though that we had kronor that we needed to spend and get rid of because to convert it into euros, well we would lose money. so we got a cab and got to the train station with 10 minutes to spare. This is where our 15 hour day began. To sum it up without boring you, Eric had planned the trip and the multiple connections we would have to make the night before using our eurail pass train log information and the internet site for all the trains. We planned it out so that we could get to our new destination in 6-7 hours in time to take the night watchmen tour. It did not happen!

we took our first train at 835am...arrived in Rothenburg at 11pm (according to our plan - we should have got there by 4pm).

To make things worse we lost one of out eurail passes, this is our ticket to get on the trains that is prepaid for every train we have taken. this put a dark cloud over our day because it was a costly loss. no worries though we do have insurance on the eurail pass and will get reimbursed for the loss --thankfully.

The only funny thing that happened while on our 15 hour trip was on a bus that we had to take to make a connecting train. The bus driver was driving along and we heard a big thump, like a metal ball had rolled down the stairs of the bus. The bus driver stopped and started talking irritatingly in chezch...perhaps swearing. He grabbed his phone and talked and laughed a few times and quicklz got out to grab something from the back. It turns out after further investigating (because we could not see the problem) was that the entire...ENTIRE shifting assembly fell OFF! as he was driving so he could put the bus in gear! haha! luckily he got us to our connection. It was incredibly funny.

But the plus at the end was that our host was there at the station to pick us up, which we were unaware of, so it was a nice surprise. we were planning on paying for a taxi because we were exhausted. Our place was the best yet!! it was a private guest house that could have housed 8 people easy. we brushed our teeth and hit the pillows hard. lights out.
