We reluctantly left the accommodation and began the short drive to Pisa. Jonathan, Mitchell and Aleisha were all amazed at how small the Leaning Tower really is but regardless of this, thought it was very beautiful.

The most amazing thing, of course, is seeing its lean.

Mitchell was determined to go up to the top, so we bought tickets. Nowadays they only allow 30 people up to the top at one time so our tickets were for a specific time and meant we had to wait 3 ½ hours. So we spent this time drinking cold beer (it was extremely hot again) and eating pizza and gelato. Then went to lay in the shade and watch the crowds of people until our ticket time.

Walking to the top is really quite cool. You can feel the lean quite strongly, especially at the bottom, and the view from the top is lovely.

We then drove to our third campsite just outside of Florence. As per the others, this one is amazing also. They are really like resorts. This one has two huge pool complexes that each have many different pools and lazy rivers, etc, pool bars, three restaurants, a gelatori (most important), pharmacy, hairdresser, medical centre, small train to take you around, tourist office, supermarket and much more. It’s all beautifully looked after and has a great atmosphere about it. Jonathan and Nicola really enjoy the campsites, but Mitchell and Aleisha LOVE them – especially for their pools.
