Sept.7-11,2011: Casey’s RV Park, West Fir, OR. Born Free motorcoach Rally- "Covered Bridges of Lane County".16 Born Free coaches present from OR, WA, ID, CA, AK.

Sept.11: Overnight at Virgin Valley Campground (Sheldon Nat. Wildlife Refuge) in northern NV. Rustic showers and swimming pool from a hotspring!

Sept. 12: Overnight in West Wendover, NV in a parking lot with lots of trucker friends.

Sept. 13-15: at Salt Lake City KOA. Visited with Kirk and Kat Thrift. They treated us to a tour of Park City, Alta and Snowbird areas near SLC. They are doing great!

Sept. 16: overnight in Green River, UT at Shady Acres RV Park. It is Melon Festival time in Green River! We enjoyed a watermelon but will miss the parade tomorrow. Sat through our first thunderstorm and rain of the trip but are safe and dry in our newly-named "Coachita".

Sept. 17: toured Canyonlands NP by car and foot. Overnight at Horsethief Campground (BLM campgrd. = $6). Very quiet and remote.

Sept. 18-19: stayed at Dead Horse State Park adjacent to Canyonlands. Campground is small but well done- electricity only. Took several hikes to rim overviews. Not much birdlife apparent, but we did spot a Rock Wren.

Sept. 20-22: 3 nights at Riverside Oasis RV Park in Moab. It is right next to the Colorado River (AKA "The Chocolate Stream"). We spent the better part of 2 days driving and hiking through Arches NP. It gets tiring seeing one gorgeous geological feature after another (Anne says "not at all")! One day exploring downtown Moab, including laundry, a museum, washing Coachita, and savoring local fare.
