We skipped Le Havre for a bus tour to Paris that gave us 3 1/2 hours on our own after a city tour.
The bus ride to Paris was long, over 2 hours. The man in front of us was coughing, but we couldn’t move. Will Richard get sick? (Yes he did) Our guide was good and the driver was good but he didn't speak English.
After stopping at a rest stop for a pee break the air conditioning in the bus stopped working. Paris is congested.
We drove down the Champs Elysee, saw the Arc de Triomphe, all the fashion stores, the Louvre, the Pantheon, Notre Dame, des Invalides. And we were dropped off at the Eiffel Tower. The tower is impressive and crowded, the park is dry and dirty. But Paris was really clean, no graffiti as there was in other ports.
We went to Rue Cler as Joyce Hagan, our neighbor, suggested and followed Rick Steve’s suggestions. Lovely street. Great lunch and good dessert. Nice neighborhood. We saw a funeral (all the people were dressed in black and the church bells tolled). I bought my granddaughters purses. Then we went back to the Eiffel Tower for pictures on both sides of the Seine River. On the bridge we saw conmen with their shell games. That’s all the time we had.
The bus ride back was not only long but hot. And we had to take our guide to her RER station before we left Paris so no commentary on the way back.
The shore excursions manager was there when we arrived and we complained about the bus and the guide leaving us. Will we get any action?
Pasta bar for dinner tonight.
