Scotland 2011- Whiskey and Castles travel blog

Well; here we sit in the Glasgow airport. We managed to find an internet hotspot, so we are trying to get a few more entries uploaded before we have to go and catch our plane. We drove down from Loch Lommond this morning, the traffic was heavy, but not too bad.

We arrived about 9 for a 12 noon flight. Check in went very smoothly, they did not say anything about our overweight bags and they did not ask to weigh our carry-on bags (good thing or we would have been paying the extra tariff). Security was easy and soon we were through in that wonderful world of duty-free shopping. Dan found his 2 favourite whiskeys in duty free at a good price (yeah!) and Linda found some perfume and shortbread.

All in all it was a great trip to Scotland. We saw all the things that we wanted to see, and did all the things that we came to do. We went through 32 castles, plus a number of historic sites. We took about 2,500 photos, and put on about 2,500 km on the rental car. Our weather was good (great by Scottish standards) and we have a lot of fond memories. The people here were fantastic. Definitely a great trip. Sad to be leaving, but glad to be going home to see our animals and sleep in our own bed.
